Serial Stories: Serial stories are chapter stories written by children's authors for the newspaper. They appear each Monday in The Wenatchee World. Guided reading questions for teachers and a make-your-own book kit is provided for each student.
SERIAL STORY 1: Sept. 11 through Dec. 18, 2006.
Hardy Boys: Secret of the Soldier’s Gold, by Franklin W. Dixon The boys become embroiled in an intriguing mystery involving the buried treasure of a German soldier from World War 11. This story is told in 15 weeks and will appear each Monday in The Wenatchee World. Suggested reading level: Grade 3 and above, and a great read aloud for ages.
SERIAL STORY 2: Jan. 8 through April 30, 2007
Menace on Horse Creek Trail, by Elizabeth McDavid Jones.
While it’s an entertaining read, this story also teaches a great deal of our country’s rich history. It’s about a wagon train headed from Missouri to Oregon with a newspaper article at the center of the intrigue. This story is told in 15 chapters and will appear each Monday in The Wenatchee World. The Time Bridge Travelers, by Linda Ayers.
