Okanogan National Forest


There is a per-vehicle fee for overnight camping in developed campgrounds that provide water and garbage services. All campgrounds are on a first-come, first-served basis. Fees for campgrounds must be paid within 1/2 hour after arriving. Water and garbage services provided in fee campgrounds Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pack out trash and remember to bring your own drinking water when campground fee is not required.

Early Winters - On the North Cascades Highway, 16 miles northwest of Winthrop. Thirteen sites. Toilets. Water and garbage service. Good views of Goat Wall and Sandy Butte. Fee.

Falls Creek - On USFS Road 51, 11 miles north of Winthrop. Seven sites. Toilets. Located off a paved road near the Chewuch River. Swimming and fishing. Short hike to powerful Falls Creek Falls. Fee.

Flat - Off USFS Road 5130 along Eightmile Creek, 12 miles north of Winthrop. Twelve sites. Toilets with wheelchair access. No water or garbage service. Easy access for trailers. No fee.

Klipchuck - On the North Cascades Highway, 19 miles northwest of Winthrop. Forty-six sites. Toilets. Water and garbage service. Stream and hiking nearby. Units can be combined to accommodate groups. Fee.

Lone Fir - On North Cascades Highway, 27 miles Northwest of Winthrop along Early Winters Creek near Cutthroat Lake trailhead. Timbered area. Twenty-seven sites. Toilets with wheelchair access. Good overnight spot for bicyclists. Fee.

Meadows - On USFS Road 500 near Harts Pass, 34 miles northwest of Winthrop. Fourteen sites. Toilets. No water or garbage service. Incredible views. Good hiking. No trailers allowed on winding mountain road. No fee.

Twisp Office (509) 997-2131


Blackpine Lake - On USFS Road 43 (Buttermilk-Libby), 18 miles west of Twisp. Twenty-three sites. Toilets. Water and garbage service. On Blackpine Lake, a popular fishing spot with boat launch (no fossil-fuel motors). Quarter-mile trail is wheelchair accessible. Breathtaking vista nearby. Fee.

Foggy Dew - Up Gold Creek on USFS Road 4340, about 12 miles south of Carlton. Thirteen sites. Toilets. No water or garbage service. Good stream side fishing and hiking nearby. Mountain biking popular, too. Foggy Dew Falls is two miles away on good trail. No fee.

Loup Loup - Just off Highway 20, 121/2 miles east of Twisp. Twenty-five sites. Toilets. Good location for large groups. Water and garbage service. Quiet location amid huge Western larch and Douglas firs. Group picnic area. Fee.

Mystery - On USFS Road 44, 18 miles northwest of Twisp. Four sites. Toilets. A scenic spot with fishing in Twisp River and hiking nearby. No fee.

Poplar Flat - On USFS Road 44, 21 miles northwest of Twisp on Twisp River. Sixteen sites. Toilets with wheelchair access. Hiking and fishing. CCC-era covered kitchen. Fee.

Twisp River Horse Camp - On USFS Road 4435, 22 miles west of Twisp, Twelve units. Feed bunkers and loading dock with hitch racks. Campground sites intended for stock users. Fishing, several trails for riding. Toilets. No water or garbage service. No fee.

War Creek - On USFS Road 44, 14 miles west of Twisp. Twelve sites. Toilets. Fishing and hiking. Rattlesnakes occasionally seen near area. No fee.

Tonasket District

Bonaparte - On USFS Road 32, 24 miles northeast of Tonasket. Twenty-four sites. Toilets. Water available. Boating, swimming, fishing, hiking trails and picnic area. Group campsite available. Fee. Nearby resort, restaurant and lounge.

Crawfish Lake - On USFS Road 30, 20 miles northwest of Riverside. Nineteen sites. Toilets. No water or garbage service. Picnicking, boating, swimming and fishing. No fee.

Kerr - On USFS Road 38, 31/2 miles northwest of Conconully. Thirteen sites. Toilets. No water or garbage service. Fishing and hiking. No fee.

Lost Lake - On USFS Road 33, 17 miles northwest of Wauconda. Twelve sites. Toilets. Water available. Boating, swimming, fishing, hiking trails and picnic area. Group camping. Fee.

Salmon Meadows - On USFS Road 38, 81/2 miles northwest of Conconully. Nine sites. Toilets. No water available. Hiking trails and horse corral. Birds and wildlife abound. Outdoor kitchen. No fee.

Tiffany Springs - On USFS Road 39, 301/2 miles northwest of Conconully. Snow expected into June. Six sites. Primitive toilets. No water or garbage service. Excellent views, Tiffany Lake nearby. Hiking trails. No fee.
